I absolutely love what I do!  Being able to help people change their lives through fitness and healthy habits is my dream come true!  However, my passion for fitness was born later in my life.  This is a familiar story: I had completed college, gotten married, and had two kids.  I was a Mom with young kids who was really out of shape, constantly feeling “gross” and didn’t know what to do to make things better for myself.  I found huge inspiration in a group exercise setting, so much so that I would look forward to my workouts.  The more I stuck to a consistent plan, the more I wanted to continue on.  I was hooked, and then it hit me.  I could become a personal trainer and group exercise instructor myself!

Fast forward to now.  I have thirteen years of personal training experience and I’ve been teaching group exercise classes for over five years.  I truly feel that I am exactly where I am supposed to be in my life.  Helping people reach their health and fitness goals through the workouts I write is so rewarding.  I’m here to guide you, push you, and teach you; but I will warn you, my jokes are corny and I think I’m hilarious.  Come and join the family!

Regular exercise is necessary and benefits the body and mind in countless ways, and I strive to share my passion with every person I come in contact with.  I crave to show people that fitness can be fun in my group exercise classes and with my private clients.  Let me help you be successful in your pursuit of sustainable health and fitness.

Being active has been a part of my life since childhood. Thanks to my energetic single father, we spent weekends water skiing, snow skiing and mountain biking. Beginning in 2012, my husband and I welcomed two children within 15 months. I was hopelessly overwhelmed as a new mother, out of shape and desperate to take control of my health.  I knew with two kids under two, my adventurous outdoor preferences needed adjusting.  I had always considered the gym a “scary” place, but the urge to move my body and interact with other adults outweighed the insecurities.

With the help of a personal trainer, who taught me so much more than a few helpful exercises, I was able to gain the confidence to take control of my life.  This confidence turned to passion and within a few years I was living my dream, working as a certified trainer.

As a personal trainer it was my mission to help others find their confidence in the “scary" gym and maintain a healthy lifestyle. I believe community is critical to that success. Whether it’s found in a large group class, a small group training or a one on one with yours truly, I am here for it. I’m able to give my clients the guidance to train effectively in a process that appeals to each person’s individual preferences, while helping to establish realistic nutrition goals without feeling overwhelmed or deprived.

Over the last few years, it has become glaringly obvious just how important movement, diet, sleep, and relationships are to our mental health.  I am looking forward to working with my long-time friends at Shred Shed to help people in our community improve their physical and mental health.

Why I teach to Music???

…… it’s my life’s soundtrack. It’s where I go when I need to decompress, when I need to focus, when I need a distraction, when I need to get hyped for something or when I need space and for everything else in between. I bring this into my classes , because it’s my way to express my creativity as a teacher and who I am.

It would not be authentic to me in any other way. Life wisdom and thoughtful words come in many forms through music and movement . Sometimes I play a song because of its deep meaning. And, other times, purely for its dope beat. Although I think I would like to be be one in my next life, I am not a dancer <working on it > I am a mover. An athlete. A yogi. Yes, yoga is an ancient practice rooted in tradition and I respect the hell out of that. But life evolves and tradition meets us today. We can blend and fuse and incorporate principles, theories, and knowledge from many different disciplines and modalities.

Meet me on the mat.

I  believe fitness should be sustainable, challenging, and fun! Training is about meeting your body where you are and building a relationship with your mind, body, and spirit.

Working out always came easy to me and was something I just checked off my to do list like a chore without a second thought. But then my struggle with infertility, endometriosis surgeries, and my ivf journey flipped everything upside down. I  was no longer in control of the number in the scale, the way I  looked in the mirror, and my ability in the gym. I  didn’t recognize myself anymore and had to learn to like and love myself again. Fitness became my true self care and became something I could control in the midst of all the chaos and uncontrollable circumstances in my life. This is when I learned that exercise is WAY more than muscle building, weight loss, or a particular body image. It’s about finding yourself, getting connected with your body, and feeling good in all aspects of health.

I was an elementary educator for 8 years and now have transitioned into personal training while I  am also in grad school for a Masters in counseling. Ultimately I want to work with clients holistically through exercise, nutrition, and mental health.

When you train with me, we will work on learning your body’s needs and challenges. Together we will build a personalized fitness journey. An ultimately we will HAVE FUN while  celebrating successes and the empowerment movement gives! I am so excited to join the Shred Shed family and cannot wait to connect with this amazing community.
